- Small low branching tree, forming a dense pyramidal rounded crown
- Cup-shaped purple flowers
- Large slightly drooping elliptical green leaves turn yellow late in the fall
- Fruit emerges green, aging yellowish and finally brown
- Unique fruit has the fleshy consistency of a banana and flavour of banana, mango and pineapple
